Things to do in Honolulu
With a metro population of around 910,000, the capital of Hawaii is a big city that feels a lot smaller than it really is. This is likely due in part to Hawaii’s reputation of being a “getaway” destination for travellers (complete with ukuleles and grass skirts) and partly due to Hawaii’s long and proud history and diverse culture, keeping residents closely knit with a feeling of local pride. The city has a bustling arts scene, with many performing arts venues, art galleries, museums and other institutions. When you’re not looking to be entertained, the rich history and numerous natural sites can keep you busy seemingly forever, and with travel between the nearby islands being so common, the sights and history don’t stop at Honolulu’s city limits. Overall, the city’s got a lot going on and keeps a slow-paced feel, even though it’s a very busy center. Honolulu is just something you have to experience!
